(Oscar Hammerstein II - Richard Rogers) When you walk through a storm Hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of a storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark. Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone, You'll never walk alone. |

Your sky during the day shows your royal color blue with your pure light shining on puffy white clouds. To know that Jesus was caught up in glory in those clouds lets me know that He is near. Yet, from this earthly place looking up, you seem so far away. When I pray, I look up at my ceiling. It’s so close. I feel that you are near. Yet, when I think how high my prayer must go, you seem so far away.
Thank you God for your grace
(unmerited favor) which through Jesus is so near. Yet, Remember, oh Lord, that for you a thousand years is a thousand days. A thousand days seems so near, but a thousand years is so far away to us humans who live an average 70 years--something which is not so far away. We start out young and living to be 70 seems like a long time. But, by the time we reach our fifties it is but a short time away. The time of the end was near for all those who served you. Yet to those who ran the race to be in your kingdom, it was so far away. Many have prayed "Thy kingdom come," wishing it was near. Yet, fear wishes it far away. We are frail in this life; we don’t want it to end. But, believing in Jesus and his resurrection makes you not so far away, but so near to us.
So come, oh God. Pull back the
black of space and the blue of skies and the clouds that stole our savior away.
Be near to us God, not far away. |
